Relief reconstruction from SAR stereo pairs: the "optimal gradient" matching method
نویسندگان
چکیده
We present a method for improving relief reconstruction from SAR stereo images, relying on preprocessing of input data with an optimal filter. This filter strongly reduces speckle noise and enhances relief structures, leading to better matching results. The method was tested using X-SAR data of a mountainous site whose DEM was available for control.

Effects of Orbit and Pointing Geometry of a Spaceborne Formation for Monostatic-Bistatic Radargrammetry on Terrain Elevation Measurement Accuracy
During the last decade a methodology for the reconstruction of surface relief by Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) measurements - SAR interferometry - has become a standard. Different techniques developed before, such as stereo-radargrammetry, have been experienced from space only in very limiting geometries and time series, and, hence, branded as less accurate. However, novel formation flying con...
متن کاملReal-Time Dense Stereo Matching using Adaptive Support Window for Robot Navigation in an Environment with Large Depth Variation
3D perception of an environment is essential for robot navigation. In this paper, we propose a dense stereo matching algorithm that works well with a scene with large depth variation, and can also operate in real-time. Our method assigns weights to pixels in a support window based on intensity gradient analysis and geometric proximity. The selected disparities are refined by intensity gradient ...
متن کاملImplementing an Adaptive Approach for Dense Stereo-matching
Defining pixel correspondences in stereo-pairs is a fundamental process in automated image-based 3D reconstruction. In this contribution we report on an approach for dense matching, based on local optimization. The approach represents a fusion of state-of-theart algorithms and novel considerations, which mainly involve improvements in the cost computation and aggregation processes. The matching...
متن کامل3D Lunar Terrain Reconstruction from Apollo Images
Generating accurate three dimensional planetary models is becoming increasingly important as NASA plans manned missions to return to the Moon in the next decade. This paper describes a 3D surface reconstruction system called the Ames Stereo Pipeline that is designed to produce such models automatically by processing orbital stereo imagery. We discuss two important core aspects of this system: (...
متن کاملICE VELOCITY MEASUREMENT IN EAST ANTARCTICA FROM 1960 s TO 1980 s BASED ON ARGON AND LANDSAT IMAGERY
Ice flow velocity is a vital parameter for estimating the ice mass balance of glaciers in Antarctica. Especially long time serial observation of the surface velocity is of great significance to assessing the relationship between Antarctic ice materials and global climate change. However, the existing research on Antarctic ice velocity based on remote sensing data since 1970s due to the harsh cl...
